UPDATED – Lil Tay’s family has clarified to TMZ that she is still alive, suggesting that her Instagram was hacked. Earlier, her management had told Variety that she passed away, which aligned with a now-deleted post on her Instagram.
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.” She continued, “My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not “Claire Hope”.
On Wednesday, confusion arose after an Instagram post allegedly reported the death of online celebrity Lil Tay. At the time, no other sources had officially confirmed the report.

Lil Tay Death – Updated
Lil Tay’s family has requested privacy as the investigation into her death continues. “Circumstances surrounding Tay and her brother’s passing are still under investigation.”
Her father and her former manager, Henry Tsang, both stated that they could not confirm the young star’s passing in the wake of the Instagram post announcing her death.
As a 9-year-old social media influencer, Lil Tay became famous online. The identified “youngest flexer of the century,” she rose to fame for her vulgar Instagram videos showing an extravagant hip-hop lifestyle. She bragged in one video that she had purchased a $200,000 sports automobile without a driver’s license.
Five years ago, Lil Tay disappeared from the internet, sparking a custody dispute between her parents and the emergence of doubtful online rumors regarding her family’s position and well-being. Lil Tay’s Instagram was deleted in June 2018, and she posted the phrase “help me” to her story.
A few months later, Lil Tay’s Instagram was allegedly hacked, leading to the posting of several abuse claims against her father, Christopher Hope. According to the claims, Hope had Lil Tay sent to Canada by court order so that she could make money off of her earnings. In an interview with The Daily Beast in 2018, Lil Tay’s manager, Harry Tsang, asserted that the accusations were false.
